Working under Lauren Hunter Studio, my practice centers on pastels that explore observation, atmosphere, and expressive mark-making.

Following a 36-year career as an English teacher in New Jersey, my focus shifted fully to visual art, beginning with a drawing class fifteen years ago and continuing through ongoing study in drawing and pastel.

Pastel is my primary medium, valued for its immediacy and capacity to capture light, color, and subtle nuance. Inspiration is drawn from landscapes, animals, plants, flowers, and portraiture, with an emphasis on balancing structure and spontaneity. The work seeks to convey both the physical presence of a subject and its quieter emotional resonance.

My work has been exhibited and includes commissioned pieces for private collectors. Membership in the Pastel Society of America reflects an ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, growth, and engagement within the contemporary pastel community.
